Fly Shop
Our fly shop is located right along Main Street at 200 North in Loa, Utah. The original owners and builders of this old craftsman style home (the Okerlunds) helped to stock many of these high mountain lakes back when the fish were taken up in milk canisters and buckets. Mr. Okerlund was a true fisherman and loved these waters.
It’s believed Mr. Okerlund would be pleased that his old shed had been converted into a little fly shop. Mike, Deb and the kids are quick to run out and help you purchase those flies that could make your trip that much more successful on the water. We are known to be helpful at pointing you to the right waters and giving you good information. We carry an assortment of quality gear to outfit your needs, with brands including but not limited to:
Redington
Umpqua
Outcast boats
And a huge assortment of flies.
Make sure you stop by before you hit the water on your next trip to the area.
Fly Fishing Lessons
We offer a great beginner class for those who want to learn for the first time, as well as a more custom “meet you where you are at” class to help you improve your skills.
Lessons can include:
Casting instruction
Entomology/fly selection
Fish behavior
Gear set up
Reading the water
Advanced techniques
Our beginners’ classes start at the Fly Shop where we go over equipment and casting. We then take you up on the river and help you understand fish behavior, including where to find the fish and the basics of what trout eat. Then we help you apply what you have learned.
