Southern Utah Fly Fishing Report

There is basically no snow left on the Mountains down here and Access over all has been good. the last few storms have brought some snow but have not limited access.

Boulder Top

no access to the top yet the Gate is closed on the road just above Millers.

Below the Rim of Boulder Mountain

access is good and so far it appears as though the lakes have survived really well this year with very limited winter kill. are best flies this spring have been a Ziddler in orange and black, Bahama mamas and Pink Dinks. there have only been midge hatches observed so far.

Thousand Lake

access is good, fishing was fast and furious there for a while but has since slowed down, go with thread frenchies and carrot top baetis.

upper Fremont.

is still very low and clear access is good, fishing has slowed down, look for things to get good with releases from Johnson soon. you’ll want to fish this water earlier this summer rather than latter as Johnson is low and it will not take long to really muddy up the stream.

Forsyth and Millmeadow.

Forsyth is full but not yet spilling, it was drained twice last year, and although fish have been restocked they are smaller 10-12 inches with a small handful of bigger fish. Millmeadow is about ten feet from full pool, its, possible to launch a boat currently. the musky that were planted two years ago are 20 inches long now and should be fun to target this year, the Brown trout and Rainbows are present but are kinda skinny, if you have fished it the last coupe of years you’ll notice very limited change.
